Bagan Ebike Tour with Village Walk
If you have only one day to explore Bagan, our Bagan Discovery Tour is for you! Enjoy freedom and spontaneity on this guided Bagan ebike tour of selected sites and villages within the Bagan monument zone.
Away from the crowds, start your day at sunrise as you watch the sun cast its first morning rays from behind Tuyin Taung, a hilltop stupa said to contain relics of the historical Buddha. Marvel at the hot-air balloons as they drift over the Buddhist “Plain of Merit”. Farmers pass by with ox carts, cows, and goats as we slowly make our way to a secluded area for outdoor breakfast including fresh-pressed Myanmar organic coffee/tea, tropical fruits, and local pastries.
What to Expect
An “ebike” in Bagan is not a motorized bicycle. The ebikes available in Bagan have no pedals and operate entirely on battery power. They are very similar to “Vespa”-type scooters, only silent. Foreign visitors are not permitted to rent motorbikes in Bagan.
If you are comfortable riding a motorized scooter, you will enjoy riding your ebike in Bagan. Helmets are provided for each passenger (optional, but recommended). Note that Bagan ebikes are designed for use on paved/tar roads and usually have no trouble on the wider paths between the larger temples, but riding can get tricky on narrow, sandy paths. Use caution when riding on your own and always follow your guide and follow their instructions when on tour.

Visit Bagan with Insiders
We take you to significant sites, monuments and locations rarely visited by tourists. Discover secret wonders of Bagan hidden among the acacia trees, hiding in plain sight. An adventurous day out for independent-minded travelers who prefer to skip air conditioning and get off the tourist trail. You’ll be welcomed like family and shown the warm hospitality of the Burmese people as we venture through farming villages and to monasteries among Bagan’s temples, still active with Buddhist monks and nuns today.
The challenge of visiting Bagan is to find the magic without a crowd of tourists. With the independence of our ebikes, we can take smaller paths to reach hidden temples and villages that taxis and buses cannot reach easily. When we do visit a very popular site, our approach is to time our visits to avoid the big-bus crowds while capturing the most magnificent views of Bagan’s most famous architectural masterworks. Most visitors can only maintain interest in a few temples each day before everything begins to look the same, so we mix it up with the different activities and people we visit each day.
(30 mins before sunrise): Meet at your hotel to depart for sunrise by ebike. Taxi pickup for sunrise and hotel return available at extra charge.
Sunrise balloon viewing at location within the monument zone. Due to changing regulations and to avoid crowds, specific site will be chosen shortly before tour date.
Discover the charm of daily life with Burmese people from nearby villages as they go out into the fields to farm or bring their animals to graze in the fields between the ancient temples. Smiling faces and colorfully dressed, with thanaka across their cheeks, Burmese women are constantly active with daily chores.
Enjoy a tasty and colorful light breakfast with local pastries, fruit, and fresh coffee/tea outdoors at our “home” pagoda situated within the Bagan Archeological Zone. Here your guide will provide you with an orientation to Bagan, its historical significance, topography, agriculture. See firsthand how the climate and Buddhist traditions have shaped the land and its people for centuries. Finally, we’ll have a look at the map to plan our day and a brief discussion of your goals with your guide to confirm the day’s plan. Return to hotel for breakfast by request.
After breakfast we’ll meet some local people for a closer look at life in a Burmese household. Then we hop on our ebikes and check out temple ruins and interior murals interrupted by invaders long ago. Your adrenaline will get flowing as we glide through the sand on our silent ebikes as the Old Bagan temples offer panoramic views around every corner. We’ll mix up must-see temples when you’ll see other travellers with secret spots that leave you wondering how your guide found such a place out in the bush.
Around noon we’ll have lunch at a local vegetarian restaurant with rave reviews.
After lunch we’ll avoid the hottest sun with by exploring the interiors of the most notable (and less-visited) pagodas in riverside section of Old Bagan-Nyaung U to avoid harshest light and heat. After that, in the late afternoon we’ll head to the riverside or journey to an agricultural village and reservoirs with amazing golden light in late afternoon. Finally, we’ll enjoy sunset viewing and photography among village ruins, by the riverside, or position for classic views among Old Bagan pagodas.
