Is an Ebike the Same as a Bicycle?
An “ebike” in Bagan is not a motorized bicycle. The ebikes available in Bagan have no pedals and operate entirely on battery power. They are very similar to “Vespa”-type scooters, only silent. Foreign visitors are not permitted to rent motorbikes in Bagan.
Are Ebikes Safe to Ride in Bagan?
If you are comfortable riding a motorized scooter, you will enjoy riding your ebike in Bagan. Helmets are provided for each passenger (optional, but recommended). Note that Bagan ebikes are designed for use on paved/tar roads and usually have no trouble on the wider paths between the larger temples, but riding can get tricky on narrow, sandy paths. Use caution when riding on your own and always follow your guide and their instructions when on tour.
